Tim Hardin Black Sheep Boy: An Introduction To Tim Hardin
Out of stock
This well-selected compilation presents many of the finest 1960s tunes by lauded singer/songwriter Tim Hardin, including "Misty Roses," "How Can We Hang on to a Dream," and "You Got a Reputation."
Liner Note Author: Sid Griffin.
Photographers: G. Hanekroot; Michael Putland.
Like the title says, this collection serves as an introduction to the beautiful, heartbreaking folk-rock of Tim Hardin. The songs are drawn from his classic Tim Hardin 1 and Tim Hardin 2 LPs (seven from Tim Hardin 1 and six from Tim Hardin 2) and include great songs Hardin wrote like "How Can We Hang on to a Dream," "Misty Roses," "The Lady Came From Baltimore," and "Red Balloon." Additional songs are taken from the live Tim Hardin 3 record ("You Upset the Grace of Living When You Lie") and the Hang on to a Dream collection ("If I Knew," "You Got a Reputation," and "Danville Dame"). The one thing that derails this collection and sadly makes it impossible to recommend is the inexplicable omission of "If I Were a Carpenter," Hardin's most well-known song. If you can find it, your first Hardin purchase should be Repertoire's two-fer that pairs Tim Hardin 1 and Tim Hardin 2. Otherwise, stick to the bare-bones yet more complete 20th Century Masters -- The Millennium Collection: The Best of Tim Hardin. Unlike Black Sheep Boy: An Introduction to Tim Hardin, his best songs are all there. ~ Tim Sendra
