Liam Neeson stars as the charismatic fighter for Irish independence in the early 20th century in writer/director Neil Jordan's striking historical biodrama that traces Collins' role in the 1916 Easter Uprising, his use of guerrilla warfare tactics against the British, and the signing of the 1921 peace treaty that divided Ireland, precipitated decades of civil war, and led to Collins' assassination a year later. Aidan Quinn, Stephen Rea, Alan Rickman, and Julia Roberts also star.
