Angel Station was not only one of the Earth Band's major successes, but it also stands out thanks to its modern production under the direction of Anthony Moore, who opted for a very stripped-down sound. The album cover was heavily influenced by the artist M. C. Escher. You Are - I Am was later sampled by Kanye West for his track So Appalled on the album My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy. Manfred Mann returned the compliment by recording a cover version of Kanye West's reinterpretation on his current album.
