City of Life & Death City of Life and Death - Blu-Ray
The 1937-38 conquest and occupation of China's capital of Nanking by the Japanese army was followed by thousands of mass murders and sexual assaults on civilian women. Director Chuan Lu's harrowing account of "the Rape of Nanking" depicts the events as seen through the eyes of various witnesses-among them a Chinese resistance leader (Liu Ye), a conscience-torn Japanese soldier (Hideo Nakaizumi), and the German businessman (John Paisley) who used his Nazi connections to save thousands of civilians.
