Augustin Dumay returns to the Mendelssohn E minor concerto after a gap of over 30 years since his first and only recording of the work for EMI. In this new version, he directs the Orpheus Chamber Orchestra, offering a refreshing interpretation of this beloved masterpiece. The program also includes the late violin sonata in F, which Mendelssohn worked on concurrently with the concerto but was left unpublished. Furthermore, it features selections from Songs without Words, arranged for violin and piano by David Walter, with the talented pianist Jonathan Fournel accompanying, who recently gained recognition by winning the prestigious Queen Elisabeth Competition.
