The Alto Knights

In 1945, Frank Costello (Robert de Niro) was firmly entrenched as acting head of Lucky Luciano's crime family, and was in no mood to cede power when predecessor Vito Genovese (also de Niro) came back from eight years' flight to Italy. The dozen years of brutal jockeying for control that followed are memorably recounted in this distinctive mob saga. Barry Levinson directs from Nicholas Pileggi's script; Debra Messing, Kathrine Narducci, Cosmo Jarvis, Michael Rispoli also star.
